DETROIT (WWJ) - Babies born in Detroit can get a free onesie from a local business to celebrate the newest members of the city.

Born in Detroit Apparel announced a free onesie for babies born on Jan. 1, 2025 or later. The onesie, in either blue or pink, will have the Born in Detroit logo.

To get the freebie, a birth certificate or hospital papers must be shown in store that the baby was born in Detroit in 2025. The promotion is going on at the Born in Detroit store located at 1275 Woodward Ave.

“Our mission for creating Born in Detroit Apparel was to showcase the pride of Detroiters and to highlight that Detroit is more than a city, it is a feeling of pride, hard work and perseverance,” Anthony Tomey, co-owner of Born in Detroit, said. “We are excited to celebrate and outfit these new Detroit born babies, while officially welcoming them to our great city.”

Born in Detroit was started by two sets of brothers in 2020. “The brand is a way for the community that was born in Motown, part of the big three or hard-working families to show off their stomping ground and pride in their hometown, Detroit,” the announcement said.

Born in Detroit is the sister company of 8 Mile Vodka.

There is one free onesie per baby, there is no additional purchase necessary and the promotion goes while supplies last.
