There is a Halloween treat awaiting those who play the Mega Millions and/or Powerball lottery games.
The Mega Millions jackpot has grown to $463 million with a cash option of $194.9 Million, before taxes. The next drawing is Friday night. If a player wins tonight’s Mega Millions jackpot, it would be the fourth time the jackpot has been won in 2026, according to the Michigan Lottery.
The Mega Millions jackpot was last won in Michigan in January 2021 by an Oakland County lottery club. The club won a $1.05 billion Mega Millions jackpot, which was the largest ever won in Michigan.
The Powerball jackpot for Saturday is at least $760 million. If a jackpot winner selects the cash option they would win $326 million before taxes.
If a player wins Saturday night’s jackpot, it would be the seventh time the jackpot has been won in 2026, and it would also mark the second largest Powerball jackpot won this year.
"We see numbers that are picked based on birthdays and anniversaries and just special lucky numbers to folks," said Michigan Lottery spokesperson Jake Harris. "And of course if that seems overwhelming and you can't make that decision on which numbers you want to pick, just fill out the easy pick and the terminal will generate a randomly selected set of numbers for you."
Harris says sales have been doing well in Michigan and people take note when the jackpot nears the $1 billion mark.
The Mega Millions drawing is at 11 p.m. Eastern Time. The overall odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 290,472,336.
The Powerball numbers are drawn at 10:59 p.m. eastern. The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million.
