WASHINGTON TWP. (WWJ) — A Macomb County man is awaiting charges after allegedly handcuffing his roommate to his bed and threatening her with a gun.
The 31-year-old Washington Township man, whose name has not been released, was arrested Wednesday following a standoff with police.
Macomb County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the Stony Creek Apartments in Washington Twp. around 4 p.m. Wednesday.
The victim told police her roommate assaulted her Tuesday night and handcuffed her to his bed, demanding she remain there all night. Authorities say the assault continued into Wednesday, where he also threatened her with a gun.
She was eventually able to escape the apartment around 4 p.m. She and a good Samaritan were able to call police, who attempted to talk with the suspect, but he refused to come out.

Deputies recovered an unregistered handgun when he was arrested. He was taken to the Macomb County Jail, where he remained held Thursday afternoon.
