HARRISON TOWNSHIP (WWJ) A Macomb County man was charged with 30 Criminal Sexual Conduct felonies involving minors.
Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido announced the charges against Robert Fitz, 48, of Harrison Township.
Prosecutors said the investigation stemmed from a September 2025 arson case. Investigators began examining Fitz's cell phone and found evidence of Child Sexually Abusive Activity.
He was charged with 20 counts in connection to the "initial discovery" and arraigned on June 1, 2026.
Detectives continued their investigation and identified additional evidence of his alleged sexual abuse of children, according to prosecutors.
A 41-B District Court Judge in Clinton Township arraigned Fitz on September 17, 2025, on: 14 counts of First Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct and 13 counts of Second Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct.
Fitz was also arraigned on a separate group of charges on three counts of Second Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct.
All 30 of the charges involved a victim under 13 years-old and a defendant over the age of 17. Prosecutors charged him as a habitual offender, second offense, for both groups of charges.
The judge set Fitz's bond at $500,000 cash/surety on the first set of charges, and $250,000 cash/surety on the second.
He remains lodged at the Macomb County Jail. If convicted on any of the First Degree crimes, he faces up to life behind bars.
“Protecting children is one of the most important responsibilities of law enforcement and the criminal justice system," Macomb County Prosecutor Pete Lucido said. "When evidence of the sexual abuse of children is uncovered, we will follow that evidence wherever it leads and pursue accountability for those responsible."
Fitz is due back in court for probable cause conferences on both cases on Monday, September 28.
