TROY (WWJ) -- Police say charges have been filed against a wrong-way driver who was pulled over with drugs in his car, last week in Troy.

The man was spotted by Troy police at around 11 p.m. on Saturday, March 30, driving a 2014 Ford Mustang northbound in the southbound lanes of Stephenson Highway.

Officers made a traffic stop and spoke with the driver — a 23-year-old Macomb Township resident — noting that his eyes were bloodshot and "there was an overwhelming odor of intoxicants coming from his vehicle," according to the police report.

After failing a series of sobriety evaluations, the driver allegedly told police that he was given 0.5 grams of ecstasy while at a club earlier that evening.

He then tested at .262% BAC (blood alcohol concentration) on a breathalyzer, police said, and was arrested.

During an inventory search of the Mustang, police said they found a bag containing "a crystal and powder" in the center counsel.

The substance in the bag later tested positive for MDMA and Methamphetamines, police said.

At the Troy Police lock-up, the driver agreed to submit to a blood draw.

He has since been charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Operating While Intoxicated. His name was not immediately released.
