MACOMB TWP. (WWJ) — An investigation is underway after a single-vehicle crash in Northern Macomb County Friday afternoon left a young passenger in critical condition.
The crash happened shortly before 1 p.m. on Aug. 30 near the intersection of 21 Mile and Tilch Roads in Macomb Township, according to the Macomb County Sheriff's Office.
A Ford F-150 left the road on the north side of 21 Mile and drove down an embankment, officials said.
An unrestrained juvenile passenger in the truck was taken to a nearby hospital then transferred to Children's Hospital. The child's age was not released. There have been unconfirmed reports that the child was thrown from the truck.
The driver, whose age also was not disclosed, was taken to the hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
There's been no word on the cause of the crash or if drugs or alcohol were involved.
The Macomb County Crash Investigation Unit was called to the scene and the investigation remains ongoing.
