DETROIT (WWJ) — Police have arrested the 22-year-old man who escaped custody at a Detroit hospital over the weekend.

Officials with the Detroit Police Department on Tuesday said Cortez Rabb has been taken into custody, though it was not immediately clear when or where he was arrested.

While searching for him, authorities said they did not believe Rabb was a threat to the community, despite allegedly hitting an officer during his escape on Sunday.

Rabb was first arrested Saturday morning in the city's 5th Precinct on the east side, officials said at a press conference Monday. Deputy Chief Jacqueline Pritchett said Rabb had a seizure at the Detroit Detention Center and was taken to Henry Ford Hospital for treatment.

While he was at the hospital, Pritchett said Rabb went to use the bathroom and while officers were bringing him back into a hospital room, he was able to escape and flee through the hospital as officers chased him.

Chief James White said Monday Rabb was initially arrested because he had a felony warrant for resisting and obstructing, though no other details were released.

Authorities did not immediately say Tuesday what new charges Rabb may be facing.
