WAYNEDOTTE (WWJ) - A man was arrested by police in Wyandotte after he allegedly broke into a home and tried to escape authorities by jumping from roof to roof in a scene police described was like "an action movie."

The Wyandotte Police Department took to social media to share the bizarre incident that occurred around 10 p.m. on Saturday, July 22 after a woman called 911 to report a home invasion on Miller Street.

The woman told police that she heard someone enter her home from a side door and believed it to be her husband -- only it wasn't her husband.

"Now she was face-to face-with a complete stranger," police wrote on their Facebook page. "This woman was kind of a badass so she just pushed him right out, locked the door and called 911."

Police arrived at the scene and found a number of neighbors outside, pointing out the suspect who had managed to scale a home and get on to the roof.

"Much to our surprise, the suspect was running and jumping across multiple rooftops like he was in an action movie," police added.

Officers said the man he was shouting that people were trying to kill him -- although no one else was on the roof -- and determined the suspect was hallucinating.

With assistance from the Wyandotte Fire Department, officials were able to rescue the man using a ladder truck and took him to the hospital for medical care.

The man was arrested and is now facing a felony charge related to the break-in.

Wyandotte police said the case wasn't the only home invasion officers dealt with over the weekend. The very next day, on Sunday, July 23rd, police received yet another report of a stranger going into someone's home.

Officers said that an Ecorse man walked into "the wrong crib" at around 3 a.m. Sunday morning and claimed to be looking for a friend named “Rachel”.

"No Rachel lived there," Wyandotte police added. "This one was a bit different though because he didn't appear to be under the influence."

And just the week before, on Thursday July 13th, yet another breaking and entering incident occurred at a local residence just after 3 a.m. when a couple was woken up by a stranger walking through their front door.

"The homeowner ordered the man out several times, but the stranger wouldn’t leave," Homeowner eventually got his shotgun and held him at gunpoint while his wife called 911."

Police believe the suspect in that incident was under the influence of drugs or alcohol. He was arrested for felony home invasion.

"HOW does this happen every week?" police asked. "I need to know from our Law Enforcement followers if they have people regularly going into random homes thinking they are elsewhere? If so, how often?"
