WARREN (WWJ) – A Southfield man is expected to be charged Thursday for pulling out a pellet gun and a fake FBI badge during a road rage incident in Warren on Wednesday morning.

The incident happened around 10:20 a.m. in the area of Mound Road and Arden Avenue, just south of 14 Mile Road, according to Warren police.

Officers were called to the area regarding possible shots fired during a road rage incident after getting a call from a driver who said a man in a white Toyota SUV shot at his car on Mound as he was trying to pass the suspect.

The victim also told police the suspect displayed a "gold law-enforcement-type badge" to him during the incident. The victim was able to give police a description of the suspect and his vehicle.

Warren patrol officers in the area quickly spotted the Toyota headed south on Mound and pulled him over in a car wash parking lot, just north of 13 Mile.

As the suspect was arrested, officers found a BB/pellet pistol inside the Toyota, along with "a facsimile FBI badge and credentials." During his arrest the 55-year-old man admitted to being involved in a road rage incident.

Officials say no injuries were reported during the incident and the weapon was confirmed to only be a BB/pellet gun. The fake badge was confirmed to be non-official law enforcement issued.

Investigators are still working on the case and plan to submit it to the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office on Thursday. Potential charges include assault with a dangerous weapon (4-year-felony), as well as other possible charges.

"We are very fortunate that nobody was injured during this senseless incident," Warren Police Commissioner Bill Dwyer said in a press release. "Too often we see minor traffic issues turn into incidents where guns are produced and people are seriously injured or killed. If you feel you are encountering a hostile driver, the best thing to do is pull over and call 911. Taking matters into your own hands and road raging with other motorists is never a good outcome."
