HARTLAND TWP. (WWJ) -- An Oakland County man is jailed on multiple charges after police say he broke into a tire store, robbed the place and then fled police.

Troopers with the Michigan State Police Brighton Post responded, early Sunday morning, to an alarm going off at the Belle Tire store on Highland Rd. in Livingston County's Hartland Twp.

On the scene, police spotted a suspect inside the closed business. But while troopers were waiting for backup, MSP said, the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle.

The suspect -- identified on Tuesday as 47-year-old James Peter Bond from White Lake Twp. -- then led troopers on short pursuit.

He was arrested a short time later on charges of breaking and entering, resisting and obstructing, and fleeing and eluding police.

In his car, police said, troopers found multiple items that were allegedly stolen from the business, including burglary tools.

MSP said troopers were assisted by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office and added: "Nice work by everyone involved."

No one was injured.

Bond was arraigned Tuesday in 53rd District Court in Howell. Bond's bond was set at $250,000.00.
