Man breaks into Michigan State Police forensic lab, steals laptop

BRIDGEPORT, MICH. (WWJ) -- A Michigan man is behind bars after breaking into a forensic lab and stealing a laptop over the weekend.

According to Michigan State Police, at about 1:40 a.m. on Sunday, the City of Bridgeport Police responded to the MSP Forensic Laboratory, located at 6296 Dixie Highway, on a report of a vehicle that was repeatedly ramming into the lab's pole barn.

Preliminary investigation indicates the suspect deliberately and repeatedly hit the barn, a parked enclosed trailer and a dumpster.

MSP said the pole barn and the trailer were both damaged.

After crashing into the barn's overhead door, the 34-year-old suspect was able to enter the building, said authorities.

When he was inside, officials said the suspect stole a laptop.

The suspect, who is from Saginaw, was taken into custody and lodged at the Saginaw County Jail.

This incident remains under investigation.
