DETROIT (WWJ) -- A man was arrested in Detroit after he ran out of gas, got tired of waiting for police and called in a fake freeway shooting to get a faster response.
According to Michigan State Police, the 30-year-old man and his female passenger ran out of gas on westbound I-94 near Woodward on Saturday night.
The woman called 911 not once, but twice, hoping to get a quicker response from MSP's Courtesy Patrol.
MSP says the driver then called 911 himself and told dispatch that "a white male in a purple SRT fired 150 shots into his vehicle with an AK-47."
When troopers arrived, they discovered the man had lied about the freeway shooting, likely because he got impatient waiting for assistance.
Along with making a false report, the driver was drunk and did not have a license. What he did have were multiple active warrants.
He was taken into custody by authorities and is currently in jail.
