(WWJ) A 21-year-old man has been arrested for an armed carjacking and robbery outside a grocery store in Oakland County.
The victim, a 31-year-old Northville man, told Oakland County Sheriff's deputies that he was parked outside of Kroger, on Pontiac Trail in Lyon Twp., on Thursday when he was approached by a stranger who asked for ride.
When the victim said no, the suspect opened the victim's passenger side door, and pulled out a pocket-knife.
The suspect then ordered the victim to drive to the Vibe Credit Union and take $ 1,800 out of the victim’s account and give it to him. The victim didn't have that much money, officials said, but he was able to give the suspect $500.
The suspect then ordered the victim to drive him to an apartment building in Novi.
After dropping off the suspect, the victim went to the South Lyon Police Department to report the crime.
After Novi Police were given a description of the carjacker, the suspect was quickly found, arrested and identified by the victim, the sheriff's office said.
He remains in the Oakland County Jail awaiting charges.
The $500 was recovered.
No one was injured.
