Man caught on video robbing Detroit Dollar General store at gunpoint, police asking for tips

DETROIT (WWJ) – Detroit police are asking for help from the community after a man robbed a Dollar General store on the city’s east side last week.

The robbery happened around 8:45 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 3 in the 1700 block of E. State Fair – just east of I-75.

Authorities say the suspect walked into the store and approached the counter. He pulled out a gun and demanded money from the cash register.

Officials said the suspect got away with an undisclosed amount of cash and fled on foot.

Detroit police released video of the incident, showing the suspect wearing a black, hooded Nike sweatshirt, black pants, a black ski mask and black gloves.

Authorities are asking anyone who may recognize the suspect or knows something about the robbery to call the Detroit Police Department’s 8th Precinct at 313-596-5840 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
