WARREN (WWJ) A Hazel Park man was charged with Second Degree Murder and a long list of other crimes for a deadly shooting at a Warren gas station.

The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office said Al Williams got into a verbal argument with the victim— at a gas station in the area of Dequindre and 9 Mile— on Saturday, December 21st. Williams, 45, drove away from the gas station.

Brandon Zaner, 38, walked to the back parking lot of the gas station while he drank his coffee and looked at his phone. Williams came back with a handgun and approached Zaner, leading the two men to get into a physical altercation. Williams shot Zaner once in the chest, prosecutors said.

Zaner died from his injuries.

Williams was charged with: Second Degree Murder (a life felony), Carrying Concealed Weapon (five-year felony), Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (four-year felony), and two counts of Felony Firearm (two-year felony).

The judge denied his bond, and ordered he have no contact with witnesses. Williams is due back in court for a Probable Cause Hearing on January 2nd, and a Preliminary Examination on January 9th.
