FORT GRATIOT, Mich. (WWJ) -- A 33-year-old man is behind bars in St. Clair County, after it's alleged he tried to stab his stepfather to death.

According to the St. Clair County Sheriff's Office, a man and woman were wounded in the stabbing at around 7:30 p.m. Thursday, August 29, at a home on Parker Rd. in Fort Gratiot Township, north of Port Huron.

Officials said the suspect, identified as Brent Durrant, fled the scene, and warned that he may still be carrying the knife he allegedly used to stab the victims — his mother and stepfather.

The 56-year-old man suffered multiple stab wounds, and the 55-year-old woman had cuts to her hands, the sheriff's office said.

In an update provided Wednesday, the sheriff's office said deputies, with help from several other police agencies, found Durrant and arrested him without incident on Saturday.

He was arraigned on Tuesday on a charge of Assault with Intent to Murder, and his bond was set at $250,000.

"Thank you to the Michigan State Police, Office of Emergency Management, Fort Gratiot Fire Department, TriHospital EMS, Drug Task Force, and U.S. Coast Guard for their assistance in manpower and resources during this incident," the sheriff's office said, in a media release.

It's not clear what led up to the stabbing.
