SHELBY TWP. (WWJ) -- A man who police say has been arrested multiple times for sexually assaulting young women is now facing charges for an alleged groping in Shelby Township.

According to Shelby Township Police, officers responded on Oct. 23 to the Walmart store on Shelby Pwy., near M-53 and 23 Mile Rd., on a report of a woman who'd been sexually assaulted while shopping.

Before police arrived, the victim said she saw the man who'd attacked her walk out of the store and leave the parking lot in a silver Jeep Patriot.

Officers were able to locate the suspect's vehicle using surveillance cameras, police said, and the case was turned over to the Detective Bureau who idented the suspect as Kirk Rogers.

Detectives researched Rogers further and found that he has had multiple arrests for Criminal Sexual Conduct, police said.

Rogers was located, arrested, and arraigned at 41A District Court last Tuesday on one count of Criminal Sexual Assault - Second Degree.

His bond was set at $500.

“I want to thank the quick work of our officers and the Detective Bureau on locating this disgusting individual," said Shelby Township Police Chief Robert Shelide, in a statement.

"I am pleased that Shelby Township Police was able to get this vile human off the streets before he could offend again. This is a person that has been investigated and arrested multiple times for assaulting young women and must be prevented from doing so again so the residents of Shelby Township can feel safe and protected from this type of monster."

Information on Rogers' next court date was not immediately available.
