(WWJ) — A Flint-area man has been charged with stalking Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel and her wife, Plymouth City Commissioner Alanna Maguire.

Christopher Baldwin of Flushing was arraigned Thursday on two counts of misdemeanor stalking, stemming from incidents earlier this week.

Plymouth police were called to Nessel’s family home in Plymouth around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, where they found the 40-year-old Baldwin sitting on the front porch, according to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office.

Baldwin allegedly rang the doorbell at Nessel and Maguire’s home before sitting on the porch. The prosecutor’s office says Plymouth police officers spoke to Baldwin and arrested him.

Baldwin allegedly had “attempted unsolicited contact with Attorney General Nessel on a prior occasion.”

The day before the incident he had allegedly gone to a Plymouth commission meeting in Plymouth Township where Maguire was in attendance, according to the prosecutor’s office.

No other details surrounding the alleged stalking were released Thursday, but the prosecutor’s office says “,ore specific facts will be placed on the record in court.”

“The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office will always take any and all threats against public officials very seriously,” Prosecutor Kym Worthy said, per a press release. “This simply will not be tolerated. Unfortunately, in today’s climate threats to elected and other officials have become normalized. Not by the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office, ever.”

Baldwin’s bond was set at $100,000 or 10% and he was ordered to wear a GPS tether. Baldwin was also ordered to have no contact with Nessel and Maguire. Judge Michael Gerou also ordered him to have no controlled substances or alcohol, and he must surrender all firearms.

His next court date is scheduled for March 15.
