
DETROIT (WWJ) - A man who was fatally wounded by gunfire tried to drive away from the scene on Detroit's west side and crashed into a home on Tuesday evening.
Detroit police said the incident occurred around 7 p.m. on Jan. 24 in the 8300 block of West Outer Drive, between Avon and Greenview avenues. The victim was sitting in his vehicle when someone open fired.
The man was hit and attempted to escape in his vehicle, but crashed into a home.
Police said the man was fatally wounded in the shooting and died of his injuries.
At this time, it is unknown if anyone was inside the home at the time of the crash. No other injuries are reported at this time.
Detroit police said an investigation into the incident remains ongoing. The victim's identity has not been released.
No suspects and no motive has so far been identified by police.
