A domestic dispute and shooting in Shelby Township leaves a father dead and his son in custody.
Officers were called to a home in the 48000 block of Sandifer Court at approximately 4:23 p.m. for a report of a possible domestic dispute, according to the Shelby Township Police Department. That location is in the Dequindre Estates mobile home park.
Officers found a man who was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is being investigated as a homicide.
A suspect was taken into custody later Thursday evening.
"It seems like it's always something," Shirley Hayes told WWJ's Darrylin Horne as she watched the police activity Thursday afternoon. "Thank God the cops are really good, Shelby police department are always here you know checking up on us, thank God for them."
Hayes, who has lived near the home for about 20 years, said the neighborhood used to be quiet, but that has changed in the last five years.
No other information will be released until after the case is submitted to the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office for review, formal charges have been authorized, and the suspect has been arraigned, according to a statement from police.
