BIRMINGHAM (WWJ) A man died after he became pinned under a dump truck in Birmingham, police said.
Birmingham Police said it happened on Friday, October 7, at 12:07 p.m., on Redding Street in the area of Woodward and Quarton.
Authorities were called to Redding Street, where they found the 57-year-old Dearborn Heights man deceased under the truck. Their investigation revealed the driver experienced mechanical difficulties with one of the truck's lift axles.
He pulled over to the side of the road to diagnose the problem and became trapped under the truck when the system re-engaged.
His name was not released.
"The Birmingham Police Department is deeply saddened by this tragic incident," the department said in a statement. "The department sends its deepest sympathies to the victim's family."
