BIRMINGHAM (WWJ) -- A man is dead after he was hit by a car while on foot in Birmingham, early Monday morning.
Police were called to the area of 14 Mile Road and Bates Street, east of Southfield Rd., before 8:30 a.m. on May 11.
Investigators said a 60-year-old man was walking in an area without marked crosswalks when he was hit by a vehicle and killed.
The driver of the car involved — an 86-year-old woman from Beverly Hills, Michigan — was trying to turn left when she hit him, according to police.
The road was closed for several hours while crews investigated, but has since reopened.
The man's name was not immediately released, as the investigation continues.
