
TAYLOR (WWJ) — A man is hospitalized after being beaten up and firing a gun during a bar fight in Taylor over the weekend.
Taylor police officials tell WWJ an altercation broke out around 10 p.m. Saturday at Rick’s Half Time Bar on Ecorse Road.
The altercation prompted a man to go out to his car to get a gun. When he went back inside the bar, the altercation resumed.
The man allegedly brandished his gun, leading those he was arguing with to assault him, according to Taylor police.
As he was being beaten up, officials say he fired a shot into the floor in an attempt to stop the assault. Someone then took the gun from him and threw it behind the bar.
When police showed up everyone involved in the incident had left, besides the man with the gun, who was bleeding from a head injury.
He was taken to the hospital to be treated. His condition was not disclosed. Authorities did not release the man’s age or hometown.
Officials did not say what sparked the initial altercation or how many other people were involved. The incident remains under investigation.
