ANN ARBOR (WWJ) - A man is fighting for his life Wednesday morning after he was rescued from the Huron River over the Fourth of July.

The Ann Arbor Police Department said two officers were patrolling Bandemer Park off Lake Shore Drive on July 4 when someone told them that a man had been pulled from the Huron River around 3:30 p.m.

The victim was unresponsive and CPR was administered at the scene. The man, identified as a 34-year-old Ypsilanti resident, was rushed to the University of Michigan hopsital for further care.

Police said the man is in critical condition.

At this time, it is unclear how the man ended up in the river and if other factors, like alcohol, were involved.

An investigation into the incident remains ongoing with Ann Arbor police. Additional details are expected to be released as they become available.
