DETROIT (WWJ) -- A man is dead after his car crashed into the back of a parked semi-truck Thursday morning on Detroit's northwest side.
Detroit police tell WWJ the driver was headed east on 8 Mile Road, just before the Southfield Freeway, shortly before 6 a.m. when his red Honda smashed into the truck, leaving it wedged underneath.
Authorities say the man, whose identity has not been released, was killed instantly. It was not clear what led to the crash or how fast the driver was going.
Police told WWJ's Charlie Langton that the truck was legally parked on the street.
Police were still investigating the crash late Thursday morning. A cause of the crash has not yet been determined.
