CHINA TWP. (WWJ) — A St. Clair County man has died after a motorcycle crash Thursday night that also left his passenger hospitalized.
The crash happened shortly before 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 12 in the area of Marine City Highway and Marsh Road, according to the sheriff’s office.
The preliminary investigation shows a 60-year-old man and a 57-year-old woman — both from China Township — were riding the motorcycle on Marine City Hwy. when the bike slammed into a car making a turn from Marsh.
They were both taken to McLaren Macomb Hospital with serious injuries. The man, whose name has not been released, was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Authorities did not release the woman’s condition on Friday.
The other driver, a 19-year-old woman from nearby Cottrellville Township, was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries, officials said.
While the investigation remains ongoing, the sheriff’s office says alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor.
