DETROIT (WWJ) -- A Detroit man was killed when police say he crashed a three-wheel motorcycle on a freeway ramp Sunday night.

According to Michigan State Police, the crash happened at around 8 p.m. on Aug. 25, on the eastbound I-94 Express ramp to the Southfield Freeway in Detroit.

MSP said an on-scene investigation revealed that the 73-year-old motorcycle driver entered the single lane ramp, struck the left wall, and lost control. The bike then rolled, and he was thrown from it.

Speed was a factor in the driver losing control, MSP said.

The driver was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

It's unclear if alcohol or drugs may have been involved. Police said they're still waiting for medical examiner's report as the investigation continues.

The man's name was not released. No one else was hurt.
