CLINTON TWP. (WWJ) – An investigation is underway after an apparent stabbing near a coffee shop in Clinton Township early Tuesday morning.

Police officials tell WWJ they were called to Henry Ford Macomb Hospital on 19 Mile Road around 6:30 a.m. after getting reports of a man in the emergency room with several injuries sustained in what they call “a felonious assault.”

The incident happened in the 43000 block of Garfield Road — just north of 19 Mile, next to the hospital — but police officials did not confirm it was a stabbing.

WDIV reported a man was stabbed near Aroma Coffee, though it was not clear if it happened inside the store.

The victim’s condition is not clear.

Nobody is in custody, but police officials say they do not believe there is a threat to the public’s safety, “due to the nature of the incident.”

No description of a possible suspect has been disclosed and a possible motive is not known.

Anyone who knows something about the incident is asked to call Criminal Investigations Division Lt. Michael Marker at 586-493-7856.
