DETROIT (WWJ) — Police are searching for a man who stole a ride share driver’s car in Detroit earlier this month.

It happened along 8 Mile Road, just west of Woodward Avenue, around 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7, Detroit police officials announced on Monday.

Officials say right after the 42-year-old driver dropped the suspect off at his destination, the man pulled out a gun and demanded the victim’s wallet, money, cell phone and car keys.

The victim complied and the suspect took off in the man’s gray 2014 Honda Accord, according to Detroit police.

While officials said the car was later recovered, they did not specify when or where.

Authorities did not say where the suspect was picked up at the beginning of the ride.

No injuries were reported during the armed robbery.

Police describe the suspect as a man believed to be 20-30 years old, between 6-foot-2 and 6-foot-4, with a slim build. He has tattoos on the right side of his neck and right forearm.

Officials on Monday released photos of the suspect, showing him inside a nearby business wearing a red varsity jacket with a bulldog logo on the front and back.

Officials are asking anyone who recognizes the suspect or knows something about the alleged robbery to call the Detroit Police Department’s 11th Precinct at 313-596-1140.
