The incident unfolded around 1 a.m. on Nov. 1, 2020 at the bar on Harper Avenue between 9 Mile and 10 Mile Roads.

Officials say Dunson, of Clinton Township, was escorted out of the bar after he was seen punching a 47-year-old woman in the neck. While he was trying to flee the scene, Dunson fired shots, striking and wounding the bouncer.

As he tried to get away, officials say other bar patrons surrounded him outside the bar until police arrived.

Dunson was sentenced to 5-10 years in prison for assault with intent to do great bodily harm, as well as an additional two years for the possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He was originally charged with attempted murder, punishable by up to life in prison and other charges but reached a deal with prosecutors.

He also pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor charges of assault and battery and was ordered to pay fines and costs.
