Detroit police release video of man wanted for two New Year's Day carjackings on city's northeast side

DETROIT (WWJ) – The search is on for a man wanted in connection with two carjackings on Detroit’s northeast side on New Year’s Day.

While authorities have not released many details about the carjackings, Detroit police officials say one happened on Dequindre Street north of McNichols Road. The other happened on Ryan Road between 7 Mile Road and Outer Drive.

Officials on Tuesday released video of a suspect inside a convenience store. The surveillance video shows the suspect trying to use an ATM. It was not specified when the video was captured.

While police didn’t provide a description of the suspect, he’s seen in the video wearing a gray jacket, black or gray jeans and a black ski mask that says “Detroit” across the front.

The suspect is considered to be armed and dangerous.
