COMMERCE TWP. (WWJ) -- An investigation is underway in Oakland County after a dead body was found near a lakeside park.
Midday on Monday, Oakland County Sheriff’s Office detectives remained on the scene at Proud Lake Recreation Area, in Commerce Township.
The sheriff's office confirmed that it is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man whose body was discovered by someone who visiting the park, at around 9 a.m.
Reporting from the scene, WWJ's Tim Pamplin said the body was lying in a pile of melting snow near the boat launch.
The man is believed to be in his 20s, official said.
Pamplin said, however, that deputies on the scene said that it's too soon in their investigation to make an identification.
It's not yet clear how he died.
The OCSO said further information will be released as the investigation proceeds.
A portion of the the park — on the east side of Wixom Rd., south of Sleeth Rd. — is closed to the public.
