(WWJ) — Border agents at the Ambassador Bridge have seized a large amount of marijuana that was hidden in a shipment of coffee.
Officials with Canada’s Border Services Southern Ontario Region announced on X Tuesday morning that agents seized 9.2 kg of suspected cannabis.
The drugs were in four courier shipments of coffee that were headed for the Netherlands, according to the CBSA.
Officials did not, however, say whether the shipments were headed from the U.S. to Canada or vice versa. It was not clear when the bust took place.
It is illegal to transport cannabis in any form in or out of Canada, per the Cannabis Act that legalized it across the country.
It’s illegal to take across the border regardless of the amount, whether you have a medical document authorizing the use for medical purposes or whether you’re travelling from an area with legalized or decriminalized cannabis.
