DETROIT (WWJ) – A pair of men who allegedly stole a vehicle from a dealership in Ohio and fled to Michigan have been arrested in Detroit.

Michigan State Police received a call from police in Defiance, Ohio, early Saturday morning about the stolen vehicle and said it had been tracked by OnStar, showing it headed north on I-75.

Brownstown Township police spotted the vehicle and tried to stop it, but the suspects kept going, MSP said. Officers didn't pursue the suspect.

The vehicle was later tracked to a home in the 13300 block of Schoolcraft in Detroit, where state troopers showed up and found the vehicle parked in the driveway.

Two men were under the hood of the car, trying to dismantle the vehicle's electronic chips, MSP said.

Troopers ordered both men to the ground. One of them complied and was arrested without incident, while the other fled.

Police officials said that suspect ran to the back of the house and through several yards, before he was eventually taken into custody.

MSP says the suspects had a re-programmed key for the vehicle.

Authorities have not released any information about the suspects, including names, ages or hometowns.

Both men are being held at the Detroit Detention Center, pending prosecutor review and proceedings by Ohio police agencies.
