Suspected drunk driver arrested with loaded gun after disregarding yellow light in Royal Oak Township

ROYAL OAK TWP. (WWJ) – A Warren man is behind bars for allegedly driving under the influence with a loaded pistol on Friday night.

Michigan State Police say troopers conducted a traffic stop shortly before 10 p.m Friday in the area of 8 Mile Road and Wyoming Avenue after a Pontiac sedan disregarded a steady yellow light.

The driver was also pulled over for improper lane use and window tint, MSP said.

When troopers spoke with the driver, he exhibited signs of impairment, according to MSP.

Further investigation revealed he was operating under the influence of alcohol.

Police also discovered the driver had a loaded 9mm pistol, but did not have a CPL.

He was arrested, processed and lodged. Police say an investigator’s report will be submitted to the prosecutor’s office.

The driver’s name has not been released, pending formal charges.
