(WWJ) -- Another round of heavy storms Thursday night in Metro Detroit have left freeways flooded, making the Friday morning commute a difficult one for many drivers.

WWJ’s KT reports that I-275 at I-94 has been shut down in both directions for for a second day as flood waters cover the freeway.

The I-94 ramps both to and from I-75 are also closed.

Michigan State Police is calling the closure a “Mother Nature” issue, saying they have to wait for the water level of nearby creeks to sink back into their banks before pumping it off the freeway.

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will also access and clean the area before the freeway is open to traffic.

Other area freeway closures Friday include the following:
(Updated 11 a.m.)

I-94 westbound, from 8 Mile Rd. to Van Dyke in Detroit
I-75 southbound at I-696
I-96 in both directions between Williamston and M-52

Ramp closures:

• I-696 westbound to I-75, both directions
• I-696 eastbound to southbound I-75.
