Metro Detroit gas prices see slight bump while Michigan declines overall

(AAA/WWJ) -- Gas prices in Michigan have dropped two cents from last week.

AAA reports that drivers are now paying an average of $3.18 per gallon for regular unleaded --- and an average of $48 for a full 15-gallon tank.

New data from the Energy Information Administration shows gas demand jumped to its highest weekly demand since 1991.

AAA Spokesperson Adrienne Woodland says if these trends continue, drivers can expect gas prices to continue climbing during the summer.

Right now, the most expensive gas prices are in Metro Detroit at $3.29 per gallon, which is up one cent from last week and a full dollar more than this time last year.

The least expensive is $3.05 in Traverse City, following by Grand Rapids at $3.08 and Lansing at $3.10.
