CHESTERFIELD TWP. (WWJ) – A Marysville man is expected to face charges after Michigan State Police caught him speeding on a Metro Detroit freeway and then found an illegal gun in his truck.

A Michigan State Police trooper on patrol in Chesterfield Township Sunday morning clocked a black Ford pickup truck going 104 mph and pulled the driver over.

Officials say the trooper asked the 37-year-old driver whether he had any weapons or anything else illegal in the vehicle. The driver told the trooper he had a gun but that he had a permit to carry it.

When trooper asked about the permit and where he kept it, MSP officials say the driver “became nervous and was being deceptive.”

It turns out the driver didn’t have a CPL.

He was arrested for carrying a loaded 9mm pistol that was in the center console of the truck.

Authorities have not said what exact charges the man will be facing. His name has not yet been released.
