(WWJ) -- Parents of children who need specialty baby formula are still struggling to find what they need to feed their babies -- but now they're falling victim to a scam.
Justin Polk told WWJ Newsradio 950's Brooke Allen that he has been combing the shelves of every big box store looking for his child's formula, Similac Alementum.
"It's kind of like liquid gold in a way," said Polk.
Amazon had to cancel his subscription due to the shortage, so he reached out to someone on social media saying they had the formula -- but he needed to pay the shipping.
"I sent the money," said Polk. "They said, 'Great, I'll get this out today.'"
When Polk asked for tracking info, the person had completely disappeared.
That person's name is now associated with a long list of baby formula scammers circulating on social media.
