(WWJ) How's this for a hiring bonus? New employees at a marijuana dispensary in Oakland County will receive one ounce of cannabis.

When Jerry Millen opened the doors to his Greenhouse of Walled Lake, the last thing he thought about was whether he would have challenges attracting and hiring new employees for his dispensary. Even though jobless claims continue to increase, he says finding qualified workers continues to be a challenge.

That is why Millen has had to resort to paying what he's calling a "bounty" of one ounce of cannabis, valued at around $500, to new budtenders and other employees.

Millen said offering a competitive hourly wage for any new workers he hires in the next 60 days, as he is in need of another 20 men and women who can do the job.

“We need men and women who want to work in a great environment and be a part of one of Michigan’s fastest growing industries," Millen said, in a news release Friday. "The Greenhouse of Walled Lake provides a great wage and an outstanding, fun work atmosphere. That’s why I am willing to pay this bounty to get the best people possible."
