Michigan gas prices drop slightly after hitting 2021-record high

(WWJ) -- Michigan drivers are feeling a little bit of relief at the pumps, but gas is still up 15 cents from this time last month.

Prices in the state are down 2 cents compared to last week, with Michigan drivers now paying an average of $3.31 per gallon for regular unleaded.

On average, motorists are shelling out $49 for a full 15-gallon tank of gasoline; an increase of about $10 from when prices were their highest last January.

“Despite a decrease in demand, high crude prices above $80 a barrel continue to keep pump prices elevated,” said Adrienne Woodland, spokesperson, AAA-The Auto Club Group.

Compared to last week, Metro Detroit’s average daily gas price saw a slight uptick.

With a current average of $3.31 per gallon, prices are 2 cents more than last week’s average and $1.20 more than this same time last year.

-Most expensive gas price averages: Marquette ($3.37), Saginaw ($3.34), Lansing ($3.34)

-Least expensive gas price averages: Ann Arbor ($3.28), Jackson ($3.28), Flint ($3.30)
