Michigan just lost over $1 billion in federal food assistance, putting a million residents in the crosshairs

(WWJ) – If you’ve been to the grocery store at all in the past several months, you’ve surely noticed a sharp increase in prices.

To make matters worse, as the calendar turned to March on Wednesday, more than a million Michiganders just lost vital government food assistance.

On a new Daily J, WWJ’s Zach Clark looks at why the state just lost over $100 million a month in additional SNAP funding from federal pandemic relief money and what it means for household budgets statewide.
