ALPENA TWP. (WWJ) -- A Northern Michigan man is facing a charge of assault with a dangerous weapon in connection with an incident involving his roommate last week.
Early in the morning of Tuesday, Nov. 9, troopers from the Michigan State Police Alpena Post responded to a home on Canterbury Lane in Alpena Township on a report of an armed man making threats.
A 34-year-old Alpena man told police that he and his roommate, 25-year-old Ian Lessard of Alpena, had gotten into an argument shortly after 2 a.m.
The alleged victim said Lessard began making accusations against him, police said, and then threatened him while holding a shotgun.
A witness was able to disarm Lessard, MSP said, and he left the home.
No shots were fired and no injuries were reported.
Alpena Police officers spotted Lessard a short time later, walking east towards the high school. Troopers responded, arrested Lessard, and took him to the Alpena County Jail.
Lessard was arraigned in 88th District Court, where bond was set at $5,000, or 10% cash/surety.
He faces up to four years in prison, and fines of up to $2,000 if convicted as charged.
Lessard's next court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 1.
