(WWJ) - Michigan has a new multi-millionaire after a ticket sold in the state matched all the numbers drawn on Monday night, winning one of the largest jackpots in the game's history.

According to the Michigan Lottery, the winning ticket, worth $842.4 million — or $425.2 million in cash, was sold at the Food Castle of Grand Blanc, located at 3035 East Grand Blanc Road in Grand Blanc.

The identity of the winner won't be known until they contact the Lottery, officials said.

The winning numbers were 12-21-42-44-49 — and the Powerball was 01.The Power Play multiplier was 3X.

The jackpot is the game's fifth largest ever won and the tenth-largest jackpot won in U.S. Lottery history.

According to the Michigan Lottery, this was also the first time a Powerball jackpot has been won on New Year’s Day since the game’s start in 1992.

"The jackpot also is the second-largest Lottery jackpot ever won in Michigan," the Michigan Lottery said. "A $1.05 billion Mega Millions jackpot won in January 2021 holds the record for the largest jackpot won in Michigan. The last Michigan player to win a Powerball jackpot was Cristy Davis, of Waterford. Davis won the game’s $70 million jackpot on Feb. 12, 2020."

Officials said the lucky winner should call the Lottery’s Player Relations Division at 517-373-1237 to claim their prize. The winner can choose between an annuitized prize of $842.4 million or a lump sum payment of $425.2 million, before taxes.

If the winner selects the annuity option, they will receive one immediate payment followed by 29 annual payments that increase by 5-percent each year.

Monday’s drawing was the 35th drawing since a lucky ticket purchased in California on Oct. 11, 2023, won a whopping $1.76 billion jackpot.
