LANSING (WWJ) -- The latest numbers from Michigan health officials report 86,009 new cases of COVID-19 over past five days, with 501 deaths.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) also reported an average of 17,202 per day over Saturday, Jan. 15 - Wednesday, Jan. 19. That number is down from the last five-day reporting period, where Michigan averaged about 18,000 daily cases.

The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Michigan now sits at 1,832,716, with total number of deaths reaching 28,980.

MDHHS says about 69% of Michiganders ages 16 and older have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, and more than 11 million doses have been administered.
