BUENA VISTA TWP. (WWJ) – Five young men are in custody after allegedly robbing a Saginaw-area marijuana dispensary early Wednesday morning and leading Michigan State Police on a chase that ended with a crash.

MSP troopers got a call around 5 a.m. Wednesday to be on the lookout for a truck that had been involved in a breaking and entering complaint at a Bay County marijuana dispensary that had just occurred.

Troopers with the Tri-City Post spotted the truck – later discovered to be stolen from a Lansing area business – on southbound I-75 near M-81 around 5:05 a.m. The trooper tried to stop the truck, but the driver did not stop, and a pursuit was initiated.

The truck exited the freeway at Dixie Highway and swerved into the path of oncoming vehicles. Authorities say the driver of the truck intentionally crash into another vehicle then drove off again, with troopers in pursuit.

Troopers eventually used a PIT maneuver, causing both the truck and the patrol car to crash into a ditch, a scene captured as the sun was rising.

Five suspects jumped out of the truck and tried to run, according to MSP officials, but four of them were immediately apprehended and a fifth was caught a short time later.

The fifth suspect was found hiding in a nearby residence after a canine search. All five suspects were lodged at the Saginaw County Jail.

No injuries were reported to troopers or any of the suspects, whose names have not been released, pending prosecutor review.

Authorities have not identified the dispensary the suspects allegedly robbed, and it was not immediately clear what was taken from the shop.

Troopers were assisted by several area law enforcement agencies including MSP Aviation, MSP Canine, Bay County Sheriff's Office, Frankenmuth Police Department, Bridgeport Police Department and Buena Vista Police Department.
