FLINT (WWJ) Troopers discovered a grenade in a vehicle outside of the Michigan State Police Post in Flint, police said.

In a statement, Michigan State Police (MSP) said their Bomb Squad confirmed the suspicious object was a real grenade.

The Bomb Squad "removed and safely disposed of the grenade" outside of the post on Corunna near Linden on Saturday, August 23, between 1 and 2 p.m, authorities said.

The Flint Post was closed down, and the public was told to avoid the area.

No information was released about how the grenade ended up inside the vehicle or if authorities made any arrests.

MSP officials said: "There is no threat to the public."
