FRENCHTOWN TWP. (WWJ) — A Michigan State Police trooper is recovering after a crash with a Tesla Saturday night while responding to a call.

With emergency lights and siren activated, the trooper from the Monroe Post was headed to the scene of an unrelated two-car crash around 8:45 p.m. Saturday.

MSP officials say the trooper was headed west on Stewart Road in Frenchtown Township when their patrol car hit a Tesla SUV at the intersection of N. Telegraph Road.

Officials did not immediately release any further information about what caused the crash.

A 52-year-old man driving the Tesla was uninjured, along with a 52-year-old woman and a 16-year-old girl who were riding with him. They all refused medical treatment at the scene, according to MSP.

The trooper was taken to the hospital to be evaluated for minor injuries.

MSP investigators are still looking into the crash and are asking anyone who may have witnessed it or knows something about it to call Sgt. Alex Dzagulones at 734-242-3500.

Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Monroe County Sheriff's Department, City of Monroe Police Department, Monroe County Central Dispatch, Frenchtown Township Fire Department/EMS, and Monroe Community Ambulance (MCA).
