
(WWJ) A 2-year-old boy has died after he was reported missing and was then found in the Clinton River in Harrison Township on Monday.
At around 11 a.m. on June 16, the Macomb County Sheriff's Office said deputies responded to a call about a missing toddler who was last see at his home on Manse Street, in the area of Jefferson Ave. and N. River Rd.
Officials said the child, Maxwell Anderson, was found in the Clinton River about 30 minutes later.
Deputies immediately began performing lifesaving efforts and continued those efforts while transporting the child to a local hospital.
Despite the efforts of MCSO deputies and medical professionals, the little boy was pronounced dead.
Officials did not release any further information, including the circumstances leading up to the child's disappearance.
A news release by the sheriff's office said the investigation was ongoing, Monday afternoon, adding: "The thoughts and prayers of the MCSO go out to the family and friends of the young child."
