BEAVER ISLAND (WWJ) - A body discovered in Lake Michigan earlier this month has been identified as that of a missing woman.

In a Tweet from the MSP Eighth District, the body was found on the western shore of Beaver Island on Aug. 9. An examination of the unidentified person was done on Aug. 12.

On Aug. 15, dental records were used to positively identify the body as Kristen Terrian, the Tweet said.

Terrian was reportedly last seen on Michibay Beach, near the Manistique Township Park, around 5:30 a.m. on Aug. 2. She was last seen wearing a dark green long sleeve shirt, light blue jeans and no shoes.

Authorities said her family was notified by detectives from MSP.

"This is not the outcome any of us wanted." MSP Public Information Officer F/Lt Mike Shaw said. "We offer our condolences to Kristen's family and our community."

An autopsy has not been completed, and officials are awaiting laboratory results.

The investigation into Terrian's disappearance and death is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Manistique Outpost at 906-341-2102.
